Little Ladybug

The girls found a Ladybug out by the pool and spent ages with it.....they were so excited.....we haven't seen many this summer yet.

And here is Cairo our cat relaxing in the shade of the porch.....

Pool time

We're filling the pool up.......the girls are enjoying playing in it until it is full....which takes forever. Sam held the hose for a while.....yes he kept his clothes and shoes on lol! The water warms up in the pool really fast!!!

We're going to keep the pool up just for a few days and see how it goes....Lloyd is home too to supervise.......if it's too stressful we'll let the water run into the pond which is low anyway.....the water is straight from the well anyway.......

Fun with straws

Yesterday at the festival they had a play place for children with straws to build with...it was from Scholars Choice....they had it there last year too and the childrne liked them...so this year I decided to buy a box knowing I could claim the money back from the homeschool funding we get. They were only $13 a box which I didn't think was bad at all....in fcat I wish I had bought the bigger box now for $34 as the kids love them...they have used them so much since we got home....creating all kinds of towers and buildings and shapes.....

I didn't use a flash so the pics aren't very good...but you get the idea....LLoyd is always saying that Laurie should be an architect when he grows up because he's so great at designing things.....

Uneasy feelings

I think the accident yesterday affected us a lot more than we thought...Lloyd keeps talking about it too.....the more I think about it, it seems very strange that the man wasn't covered up. He died instantly and at this point the ambulance and police were there which means he had been there a while....I feel he should have been covered....cars full of families were driving past all the time on their way to Canada Day festivities and it was so upsetting to see it all.....

That aside, it has left us with so many thoughts about life and how fragile it is....how one minute you can be on your way out to enjoy the celebrations and events of the day and the very next minute it can all be over.

And we are left thinking all the what if's? What if it was us....what if something happened to one of us.......what if we had left the house on time instead of waiting for the soccer match to finish??? It could have been us that hit his bike as he ran the stop sign.......how do you live with that? Lloyd said it was a minivan involved.......probably a family.....how are they feeling today? I just can't imagine.

We had to drive past the site that evening to pick Laurie up and go to see the fireworks.....it was eery driving past........sad and eery. Here we are enjoying the weekend and another family close by is coping with the shock of losing their loved one.

I don't think I'll ever forget the sight of that man yesterday......
