Asleep on the job

Sam was helping Daddy cut the grass at the weekend......but obviously Dads conversation isn't stimulating enough.....Sam managed to fall asleep despite the noisy mower!

Sand box diva....

Sam had some help in the sand box on Sunday......Barbie!!!! I personally feel she's a little under-dressed for playing in the sand...but maybe sand doesn't stick to her bits the way it would to mine.......

She's having a bit of a bad hair day too.......

Amber as you can see is still on the porch waiting for that light.....

Amber

Amber and Rosie are sisters. They have the same parents. (their parents are both champions!) but they are sooooo different. Amber is 2 and Rosie is six months old. They are Golden Retrievers...Amber, however, has never really understood the 'retrieve' part of her name ;)

Rosie almost always has a ball in her mouth and loves to play fetch constantly.....she brings the ball back, drops it and waits for you to throw it again. Amber acts like she didn't see where the ball went.....or she will run half way and decide she's bored of that game and doesn't bother to find the ball......

Amber spends most of her time on the front porch stood by the front door...waiting for someone to open the front door...why????? Because she loves the reflection of light that moves across the porch when the door opens and closes and it sends her loopy..she chases the light.....this is all she likes to do.....

So this picture above is of how Amber spends much of her day.......stood by the door waiting......waiting for that light!

she's beautiful and sweet and loving...but she's definitely a blonde ;)

Costco fresh produce

Costco fresh fruit and veg has been soooo good lately! We didn't get anything planted at home this year as so much needs doing before we start on the vegetable garden next Spring........we have a few raspberries and strawberries growing and some rhubarb......nothing else this year sadly......lots of plans for next year though...especially now we have a rotatiller (sp???)

Anyway....we have been buying a lot of fresh foods from Costco...their raspberries are gorgeous! Yum......I haven't made a pavlova with them yet because they don't last long enough....in the evenings I've been snacking on a bowl of fruit loops and raspberries....which is really nice because the fruitloops act a bit like a meringue in a pavlova......I guess you could do a very low point pavlova with light cool whip and Miss Vickies meringues.....covered in rfesh raspberries......

Their zucchini have also been wonderful...I love mine cut lengthways and then broiled (grilled in the UK) with a little of Mrs Dash's seasonings sprinkled on them......yum........

Tonight we're having asparagus though.....broiled again (grilled) and everyone loves them too......the tips are all nutty and yum! But sadly asparagus has a weird side effect.....funky pee ;)
I always tease the boys that we're having funky pee tonight! Why on earth does Asparagus make your pee smell so weird????? It really is the weirdest smell ever......so weird that you can find articles about it on the web:

http://www.drdaveanddee.com/asparagus.html

http://www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/band124/b124-7.html

And there are plenty of other sites online too to find out the whys........

So if you are in the other half of people who DON'T have funky pee after eating asparagus then LUCKY YOU because I love eating asparagus but don't eat it more than every couple of weeks or so because of the smell....

I blame my parents...... ;)

Anyhoo.......Costco.......great for fresh fruit and veg!

Lovely lyrics

Abigail loves to sing in the car...two of her recent songs are:

Her version of the Beatles 'Can't Buy Me Love' :

'I don't care too much for Mommy, coz Mommy's no diamond ring'

and:

'Rain, rain go away,
come again on Mothers Day'

And then she smiles and asks if she got the words right...

What can you say?????

In the pictures above for some reason she is in her pj's, holding a caterpillar and wearing the dogs Canada Day bandanna on her head back to front......very Abby!

Losing, finding and good hair days!

So I was supposed to get up early, take Chris to the museum, pick up Lauries friends and then head to the homeschool group........but his friends messed us around all morning time wise and in the end we didn't make the group at all......so we rushed to the mall for some groceries and dropped the dvd's back to the library......then headed home.....we stopped at the local playground but there were no children there so we didn't stay long and came home for lunch instead.

The library was chaos......we get to enjoy it during the school week normally when it's really quiet...so eeing all the school children there was not a great surprise. The children took their turns on the summer game and Susie won a prize....then they all guessed how many chocolate coins were in the jar...and they wrote down instructions for the 'make a 3d sea creature' competition that they all want to have a go at......

I ran into someone I know...someone I don't like at all...she had 'heard' I was homeschooling and how on earth did I have the 'discipline' for that....and she just wouldn't have the 'discipline' for that........(makes me want to vomit - she has such high and mighty opinions on things she knows NOTHING about).....so I smiled sweetly answered politely then said 'have a great summer' and walked away. I was NOT in the mood for small talk with someone I can't stand!

That makes me sound like a bitch but trust me...you have to know this person to understand.....she has the personality of a lettuce.........a limp lettuce (Mom you know her...you met her at that group and said she had NO personality lol).......and she's just plain rude anyway.....she seems to really lack social skills.....

So Chris is working today......Susie is writing back to her penpal in England...Abby is writing a letter and drawing pictures to put in with Susies letter......we're going to walk down to the mail box soon......I should have some lunch first....

I shocked the pool earlier...figured the kids won't swim today anyway as it's not that warm out.....so I threw half a litre of shock treatment in........

Oh, my shoe broke at the mall...the stitching has been coming undone for a week or two and finally it gave up! So I had to run into a store and buy a pair of shoes.....so I bought some sandals witha heel......I hate shoe shopping...I don't get the whole 'shoe' thing that excites most women......I just grabbed whatever was there that would show off my toe nails and bought them.

The amount of roadworks in town is starting to P me off...I'd be hopeless in Britain now...at leats they don't have cones everywhere here but still, there are roadworks everywhere.....

Today is a good hair day........why does that happen a day or two before I have a hair appt???? I was going to have it all cut off when I see Erin on Thursday....but yesterday and today have been good hair days and now I'm liking it long...especially this colour...Lloyd loves my hair this colour too...so now I'm not sure what to do....Lloyd says talk to Erin and see what she says...he's so sensible :)

I love the t-shirts I bought at the weekend........the 4 I bought in Mariposa are soooo nice...so comfy...I'm going back for more!!!

I lost 2lbs.......thats good.....

Talking of losing things...my Mom lost her wedding ring a few months back and was really upset.....she told me yesterday that a few days ago she went to get her gardening gloves and put them on and there was her wedding ring...stuck up in one of the fingers of the gloves!!! How lucky was that???? So she's happy that she has her ring back! I'd be distraught if I lost my ring!

Wild goose chase.......literally ;)

So last night at 8pm Lloyd and I drove up and down the highway looking for squashed geese.....Lloyd was really worried that the traffic couldn't see the Mother and goslings and thought maybe the Mother was killed...and what would happen to the babies.....so we drove up to 23rd Ave and back and couldn't see any signs of squashed geese .....so thats good! They must have made it safely across the highway despite the rush hour traffic and low visibility. Good news :) and my wonderful DH could sleep without worrying......
