Sardines??????

Oh my mistake!!!! They're horses!!!!! ;)

Family BBQ....turned supper in the lodge!!!!

It rained this afternoon and so the ground was too wet for them to have the family supper outside - so everyone ate in the lodge at the camp - it was nice to have a good look around and to see where Susie and Laurie eat their meals - where the gym is and where they spend any days when it's raining too hard to be outside.

As you can see, Laurie has got to the age where he does not like to have his picture taken!!! Sigh......I hope it's a while before Susannah gets to that age!!!!

Off to camp!!!!

Laurence headed off to Summer camp today! He is in the same cabin as last year but has a different leader. He was one of the first in so got to choose his bed and has a top bunk. He is in the teen cap which is different to Susannahs camp and is for kids aged 12 - 16. It is called the 'Get a Grip' camp and means he will spend much of the week zip lining and on the repelling wall etc - although he will still do some trail riding on the horses etc. His week doesn't have a 'theme' as such but they do have a special night where they have a 'semi-formal' party!! They aren't allowed to take any electrical gadgets like MP3 players or DS's etc etc which I think is a great idea - and no candy or money - but they do each get $2 worth of 'tuck' each day which they earn through keeping their cabin tidy. The rest of the food served there is fairly healthy with no other snacks as such so it ends up not being too bad I guess. They are being very active during the week and the whole point of the week is to have fun :) I just don't worry about it - it's only a few days!!

Susannah on Rocky...

Susie showing us her horse riding skills on Rocky. He was a small pony BUT she was given him to ride purposely because she has quite good riding skills already and he is a STUBBORN horse and they felt she would be good at handling him - at first she didn't want to ride him because he was difficult to ride despite being small but she learned through the week how to handle him and by the end of the week - and the rodeo - she handled him REALLY well and she did GREAT!!! Well done Susannah!!!! :)

The rodeo...

Singing 'Oh Canada' to start the Rodeo

Snapshots from camp

The petting zoo came to visit...A picture of Susie with her cabin leader...A picture of her cabin.....Camp fun.....

More camp experiences....

hahahahahaa!!

Send an 11 year old to camp with her camera and you never know what you'll find when you look through the pictures :)

Sleeping in the sky!!!

One night the leader took the girls up to the top of the zip line tower and let them sleep up there until 1am!!! See this is what camp SHOULD be about!! Having fun like this - I think the leaders last year were a bit boring - lights out at the right time - no midnight feasts....no being sneaky....but this year they had FUN!!!!!!!! :)

Cabin fun....

Susie took these pictures and they show a party taking place in her cabin (no parties were actually allowed hahaha and last year the leaders did as they were told - but this year the leaders did a few things they weren't supposed to do - and made it a very fun camp for the girls!!! Susies cabin leader invited ALL the other girl cabins to a party in their cabin one night!!! :) How fun!!!

Beach party....

Each week at camp they have a different 'theme' - Susannahs week was beach party 'Aloha'.....She was given a lovely necklace with a flipflop on it - she hasn't taken it off since :)

Susie's back!!!!

On friday night we went to get Susannah from her Summer camp! She had had a GREAT time :) She was sad her time was over and DEFINITELY wants to go back next year - she will be old enough to go to teen camp next year, but she wants to go to junior camp again because she loves it so much!!! They get more time with the horses :) As you can see, she was glad to see everyone :)
